Birding with Peter and Jia Min Part II

 23-27th July 2023

Peter came to KK last March for the Bulwer's Pheasant at Mt. Trusmadi https://horukuru.blogspot.com/2023/03/birding-with-peter.html and for the 2nd time, with Jia Min covering Sepilok Forest Reserve and Lower Kinabatangan River. During the trip, we got some of the finest birds such as Rufous-collared Kingfisher, Storm's Stork and White-crowned Hornbill including the endemic Black-crowned Pitta.

At Kinabatangan River, we stayed at Sukau Greenview for few days. Weather was good throughout but missed the Bornean Clouded Leopard the night before! They will be back for the Borneo Bird Festival this coming Oct https://www.borneobirdfestival.com

Danum Valley

22-26th October 2018

Spent a few days with friends from Pontianak at Danum Valley Field Centre. Mainly for wildlife and landscapes. It didn't disappoint everyone with a daily visit to the Global Atmosphere Watch Tower to watched the sunrise and amazing view of the misty rainforest of Sabah, Borneo! We also managed to get a close shots of the North Grey Gibbon, Orang Utan, Red Leaf Monkey, Black and Crimson Pitta and many more.

Bornean Bristlehead

One of the rarest endemic found only in Borneo. I have never missed these legendary bird with clients and on my recent tours with Paul at Borneo Rainforest Lodge, Danum Valley, saw few of them right on top on some of the tallest rainforest trees in the world.

When I pointed my Swarovski STX 95 scope, Paul said why not we take some videos these time? Considering the distance around 100m ++, I did not expect the result would be great etc because it was on maximum zoom at 70x! Then once I viewed through my Mac, quite nice!
